In the context of histology, APP is found in a variety of tissues but is most prominently expressed in the brain. Specifically, it is localized in neuronal synapses, but also found in other cell types including glial cells, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells. Conventional histological techniques, such as immunohistochemistry, are often used to detect APP in tissue sections.
