CD1a is a transmembrane glycoprotein that belongs to the CD1 family of antigen-presenting molecules. These molecules are structurally related to MHC (major histocompatibility complex) class I proteins. CD1a is prominently expressed on the surface of certain immune cells, particularly Langerhans cells and some dendritic cells.
