Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase (PI3K) is a family of enzymes involved in cellular functions such as growth, proliferation, differentiation, motility, and survival. PI3K is activated by various cell surface receptors, including tyrosine kinase receptors and G-protein-coupled receptors. Upon activation, PI3K phosphorylates the 3'-hydroxyl group of the inositol ring of phosphatidylinositol, leading to the generation of phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3).
