Keratinocytes are predominantly located in the epidermis. This layer is stratified into several sub-layers, each representing different stages of keratinocyte maturation. These layers include the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum (only in thick skin), and the stratum corneum.
