myeloproliferative neoplasms
What are Myeloproliferative Neoplasms?
Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs)
are a group of disorders characterized by the abnormal proliferation of one or more types of blood cells in the bone marrow. These disorders are clonal in nature and arise due to mutations in hematopoietic stem cells. The main types include
chronic myeloid leukemia (CML)
,
polycythemia vera (PV)
,
essential thrombocythemia (ET)
, and
primary myelofibrosis (PMF)
.
