What Conditions are Associated with Microvascular Thrombosis?
Microvascular thrombosis is associated with numerous clinical conditions. These include sepsis, where systemic inflammation and endothelial injury promote thrombosis, and DIC, characterized by widespread activation of the coagulation cascade. Autoimmune disorders like systemic lupus erythematosus and antiphospholipid syndrome can also predispose individuals to microvascular thrombosis. In these conditions, autoantibodies may target endothelial cells or platelets, promoting clot formation.
