Peripheral inflammation can be broadly categorized into three stages:
1. Initiation: This stage involves the recognition of harmful stimuli by pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) on immune cells. This triggers the release of inflammatory mediators such as cytokines and chemokines. 2. Amplification: During this phase, the initial signals are amplified through various pathways, leading to the recruitment and activation of additional immune cells. 3. Resolution: This is the final stage where anti-inflammatory signals are produced to terminate the inflammatory response. Tissue repair mechanisms are also activated to restore normal function.
