Muscle tissue is specialized for contraction and consists of elongated cells called muscle fibers. There are three types of muscle tissue:
Skeletal muscle: Voluntary, striated muscle attached to bones. Cardiac muscle: Involuntary, striated muscle found in the heart. Smooth muscle: Involuntary, non-striated muscle in walls of internal organs.
