Lipid inclusions can be visualized using various staining techniques. One of the most common methods is the use of Oil Red O or Sudan III stains, which specifically bind to lipids and give them a distinct color, usually red or orange. Another method is using osmium tetroxide, which stains lipids black. Lipid inclusions are often observed as clear vacuoles in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue sections, due to the lipids being dissolved out during preparation.
