What Staining Techniques Are Used for Identifying Clostridium Perfringens?
The primary staining technique used for identifying Clostridium perfringens is Gram staining. However, other special stains such as Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) and Periodic acid–Schiff (PAS) can be used to highlight the presence of the bacteria and its effects on tissue. Immunohistochemical staining can also be employed to detect specific toxins produced by the bacterium.
