In cancer, exosomes can promote tumor growth, metastasis, and drug resistance by transferring oncogenic molecules to healthy cells. In neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, exosomes may contribute to the spread of pathogenic proteins like amyloid-beta and alpha-synuclein. Understanding the role of exosomes in these diseases could lead to novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
