The restriction point (R-point) is a critical checkpoint in the cell cycle, particularly located at the transition from the G1 phase to the S phase. At this juncture, the cell evaluates whether the conditions are favorable for DNA replication and subsequent cell division. If conditions are not optimal, the cell may enter a quiescent state known as G0.
