Korsakoff's Psychosis, also known as Korsakoff's Syndrome, is a chronic memory disorder most commonly caused by severe deficiency of thiamine (Vitamin B1). It is often associated with chronic alcoholism but can also occur in individuals with severe malnutrition or those who have undergone prolonged periods of vomiting. The disease is characterized by the inability to form new memories, loss of existing memories, and confabulation.
