What Histological Changes Occur Due to Vitamin B12 and Folate Deficiency?
One of the key histological markers of vitamin B12 and folate deficiency is the presence of megaloblasts in the bone marrow. Megaloblasts are immature red blood cells with an abnormal nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio. Additionally, deficiencies can lead to hypersegmented neutrophils, which are white blood cells with an increased number of nuclear lobes.
