What are the Pathological Changes in Polycythemia Vera?
In PV, the bone marrow exhibits significant changes. Hyperplasia of erythroid precursors is often seen, leading to increased red cell mass. The megakaryocytes become abnormally large and tend to cluster. Fibrosis may develop in the later stages, which can be detected using reticulin and trichrome stains.
