Hsp70 has several critical functions within the cell:
Protein Folding: Assists in the proper folding of newly synthesized and stress-denatured proteins. Protein Degradation: Targets irreparably damaged proteins for degradation via the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. Protein Transport: Facilitates the transport of proteins across cellular membranes, including into mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum. Cellular Protection: Provides protection against apoptosis by stabilizing mitochondrial membrane integrity and inhibiting the aggregation of pro-apoptotic factors.
