How is Pulmonary Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (PLCH) Identified Histologically?
PLCH is marked by the presence of nodules and cysts within the lung tissue. These nodules are composed of Langerhans cells, which are a type of dendritic cell. The histology typically shows eosinophilic granulomas with a mixture of inflammatory cells. Immunohistochemistry for CD1a and S100 proteins can help identify Langerhans cells.
