Epithelial tissue can be classified based on the number of cell layers and the shape of the cells:
Simple Epithelium: A single layer of cells, which can be further classified into simple squamous, simple cuboidal, and simple columnar epithelia. Stratified Epithelium: Multiple layers of cells, including stratified squamous, stratified cuboidal, and stratified columnar epithelia. Pseudostratified Epithelium: Appears stratified but is actually a single layer with nuclei at different levels. Transitional Epithelium: Specialized epithelium found in the urinary system, capable of stretching as the bladder fills.
