The heart receives its blood supply from the coronary arteries, which branch off from the aorta. These arteries penetrate the myocardium and form an extensive network of capillaries to ensure adequate oxygen and nutrient delivery. The venous return from the heart muscle is collected by the coronary veins and drained into the coronary sinus before entering the right atrium.
