While Pick bodies are composed of tau protein, they differ from the tau inclusions seen in other tauopathies such as Alzheimerâs disease and progressive supranuclear palsy. In Alzheimerâs disease, tau aggregates form neurofibrillary tangles, which have a different morphology compared to the spherical Pick bodies. Moreover, the distribution of tau pathology varies between these conditions, with Pick bodies being more localized to the frontal and temporal lobes.
