How are Hypochromic and Microcytic RBCs Identified?
In histological examination, hypochromic and microcytic RBCs are identified using a peripheral blood smear. Under a microscope, these RBCs are observed to be pale with a larger central pallor (hypochromic) and smaller in diameter (microcytic) compared to normal RBCs. Staining techniques like Wright-Giemsa stain are frequently used to enhance visibility.
