HA is omnipresent in the human body but is most abundant in the extracellular matrix (ECM) of soft connective tissues. It is also found in significant concentrations in the skin, vitreous humor of the eye, synovial fluid of joints, and in various other tissues including the cartilage and intervertebral discs.
