The muscularis mucosae is a thin layer of muscle found in the mucosa of various tubular organs such as the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. It is located between the lamina propria and the submucosa. This layer is primarily composed of smooth muscle fibers arranged in different orientations, typically inner circular and outer longitudinal layers.
