What is the Histological Appearance of a Granuloma?
Under the microscope, granulomas appear as well-defined clusters of epithelioid cells surrounded by a cuff of lymphocytes. In caseating granulomas, the center contains necrotic debris that appears amorphous and eosinophilic. Giant cells, such as Langhans giant cells, may also be present, characterized by multiple nuclei arranged in a horseshoe pattern.
