What is the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR)?
The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a transmembrane protein that functions as a receptor for members of the epidermal growth factor family. EGFR is involved in regulating cell growth, survival, proliferation, and differentiation. It is a part of the ErbB family of receptors, which includes ErbB2 (HER2/neu), ErbB3, and ErbB4.
