African Trypanosomiasis, also known as Sleeping Sickness, is a parasitic disease caused by Trypanosoma brucei species. There are two forms of the disease: T. b. rhodesiense and T. b. gambiense, which are responsible for the acute and chronic forms of the disease respectively. The parasite is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected tsetse fly.
