What Histological Changes Occur in Burned Tissues?
Burned tissues exhibit several histological changes. Coagulative necrosis results in the denaturation of cellular proteins, leading to a homogenous and eosinophilic appearance under the microscope. Inflammatory cell infiltration is another hallmark, with neutrophils and macrophages migrating to the site to clear debris and facilitate healing. In severe burns, thrombosis in blood vessels and destruction of adnexal structures (such as hair follicles and sweat glands) are common.
