Following the ring stage, the parasite progresses to the trophozoite stage, where it grows and metabolically becomes more active. This is followed by the schizont stage, where multiple nuclear divisions occur. Eventually, the schizont ruptures, releasing new merozoites that can infect additional RBCs, continuing the cycle.
