After collection, the tissue sample undergoes several steps to prepare it for microscopic examination:
Fixation: The tissue is preserved using chemicals like formalin to prevent degradation. Embedding: The fixed tissue is encased in a solid medium, usually paraffin wax, to provide support during sectioning. Sectioning: Thin slices of the embedded tissue are cut using a microtome. Staining: The sections are stained with dyes like hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) to highlight different cellular components.
