There are four primary types of tissues in the human body:
Epithelial Tissue: Covers body surfaces and lines hollow organs, body cavities, and ducts. It also forms glands. Connective Tissue: Protects and supports the body and its organs, binds organs together, stores energy reserves as fat, and provides immunity. Muscle Tissue: Responsible for movement and generation of force. Nervous Tissue: Detects changes inside and outside the body and initiates and transmits nerve impulses to coordinate body activities.
