What are the Main Structural Components of the Eye?
The eye is composed of several key structures, including the cornea, lens, retina, and optic nerve. Each of these structures has unique histological features:
Cornea: Composed of five layers, including the epithelium, Bowman's layer, stroma, Descemet's membrane, and endothelium. Lens: Made up of the lens capsule, epithelium, and lens fibers. Retina: Contains multiple layers, such as the photoreceptor layer, bipolar cell layer, and ganglion cell layer. Optic Nerve: Comprised of axons from retinal ganglion cells, which transmit visual information to the brain.
