What are the Limitations of Reporter Gene Assays in Histology?
While reporter gene assays are powerful, they come with certain limitations:
Insertion Effects: The insertion of a reporter gene might disrupt normal gene function or regulatory elements. Expression Levels: Overexpression or underexpression of the reporter can lead to inaccurate representations of native gene activity. Tissue Specificity: Reporter genes might not always recapitulate the native spatial expression patterns of the target gene.
