What are the Histological Features of Pathological Cysts?
Pathological cysts can be benign or malignant and have a variety of histological appearances.
Dermoid cysts: Also known as mature cystic teratomas, these contain tissue from multiple germ layers, such as skin, hair, and teeth. Endometriomas: These are a type of cyst formed by endometrial tissue and are often associated with endometriosis. Histologically, they contain endometrial glands and stroma. Cystadenomas: These are benign tumors that arise from the ovarian epithelium. They can be serous or mucinous, with serous cystadenomas lined by simple cuboidal epithelium and mucinous cystadenomas lined by columnar epithelium.
