Blasts: These immature cells have a high nuclear-to-cytoplasmic ratio, prominent nucleoli, and fine chromatin. Auer Rods: These are needle-like inclusions found in the cytoplasm of myeloblasts, typically seen in AML.
Peripheral blood smears in leukemias often show increased white blood cell counts, with a presence of blasts in acute leukemias.
