Leukemias are classified based on the type of blood cell that is affected and the rate of progression. The two main types are:
Acute Leukemias: Characterized by the rapid proliferation of immature blood cells, known as blasts. This can include acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Chronic Leukemias: These progress more slowly and involve the overproduction of more mature blood cells. Examples include chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
