What are the Consequences of Failed Negative Selection?
If negative selection fails, autoreactive T-cells may escape into the peripheral circulation. This can lead to the development of autoimmune disorders, where the immune system mistakenly targets and attacks healthy tissues. Examples of such conditions include Type 1 Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.
