Despite its advantages, deep tissue imaging comes with challenges:
- Photobleaching: Prolonged exposure to light can degrade fluorophores, reducing signal intensity. - Phototoxicity: High-intensity light can damage tissues, affecting their viability and the accuracy of the imaging. - Resolution and Depth Trade-offs: Higher resolution often comes at the cost of reduced imaging depth and vice versa. - Complexity and Cost: Advanced imaging systems and tissue clearing processes can be complex and expensive, limiting their accessibility.
