What are the Advantages and Limitations of Stool Examination?
Stool examination has several advantages:
Non-invasive and relatively easy to perform. Provides valuable information about the digestive and overall health. Can detect a wide range of pathogens and other abnormalities.
However, there are also limitations:
Sample collection can be inconvenient for patients. Some tests require specialized equipment and expertise. False negatives can occur, especially if the pathogen is not uniformly distributed in the stool.
