Hemosiderin laden macrophages, also known as siderophages, are specialized macrophages that contain hemosiderin, a granular brown pigment derived from the breakdown of hemoglobin. These cells are often found in tissues where there has been bleeding or hemorrhage, and they play a crucial role in the recycling of iron from hemolyzed red blood cells.
