Cytotoxic granules are specialized secretory lysosomes found in certain immune cells, particularly cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and natural killer (NK) cells. These granules contain proteins that enable these cells to kill infected or cancerous cells. Upon recognition of a target cell, cytotoxic granules are released to induce apoptosis in the target cell.
