Mutations or aberrations in NTRK3 can lead to several neurological disorders and cancers. For instance, chromosomal rearrangements involving NTRK3 are implicated in certain types of pediatric cancers, including congenital fibrosarcoma and secretory breast carcinoma. Moreover, reduced expression or dysfunction of NTRK3 has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia.
