How is Escherichia coli Identified in Histological Samples?
E. coli can be identified in histological samples using various staining techniques. One of the most common methods is the Gram stain, which differentiates bacterial species into Gram-positive and Gram-negative. E. coli, being a Gram-negative bacterium, will appear pink or red under the microscope after Gram staining. Other methods include immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).
