How Does the Stratum Granulosum Differ Between Thick and Thin Skin?
The stratum granulosum is more prominent in thick skin (such as the palms of the hands and soles of the feet) compared to thin skin (covering most of the body). In thick skin, this layer is well-developed, with numerous layers of keratinocytes filled with keratohyalin granules. In contrast, in thin skin, the stratum granulosum may be less distinct with fewer layers of keratinocytes.
