Pinocytosis begins with the invagination of the plasma membrane. This leads to the formation of small vesicles that enclose the extracellular fluid. These vesicles, also known as endosomes, are then transported into the cell. The contents of the vesicles are eventually released into the cytoplasm, where they can be utilized or further processed.
