In histology, scales are applied through imaging techniques like light microscopy, electron microscopy, and confocal microscopy. Each of these techniques has different resolution capabilities, which determine the scale at which tissues and cells can be viewed. For instance, electron microscopy can resolve structures as small as 0.1 nm, while light microscopy is usually limited to around 200 nm.
