Given the pivotal role of TP53 in cancer, there is ongoing research to develop therapies that can restore or mimic its function. Strategies include gene therapy to replace the defective TP53 gene, small molecules that can reactivate mutant p53, and drugs that enhance the activity of wild-type p53. While these approaches hold promise, they are still largely in the experimental stages.
