Glut4 transporters are predominantly located in skeletal muscle cells and adipose tissue. In the basal state, Glut4 is stored in intracellular vesicles. Upon stimulation by insulin or exercise, these vesicles translocate to the plasma membrane, allowing glucose to enter the cell.
