Cells may exhibit mitotic arrest, where cells are stuck in mitosis due to the inability to complete chromosome segregation. This can be observed as an increase in the number of cells in metaphase. Additionally, cells may show signs of apoptosis, or programmed cell death, due to prolonged mitotic arrest.
