The anterior pituitary, also known as the adenohypophysis, is a critical component of the endocrine system. It is responsible for producing and secreting a variety of hormones that regulate numerous physiological processes. Histologically, it is derived from the embryonic oral ectoderm and forms the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland.
