Plasma cell myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, is a type of hematologic malignancy characterized by the clonal proliferation of plasma cells in the bone marrow. These abnormal plasma cells produce excessive amounts of a single type of immunoglobulin, known as a monoclonal protein or M-protein, which can be detected in the blood or urine.
